DR. YUNUSA ADAMU DANGWANI is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, University of Maiduguri Governing Council. He is a Medical Doctor by profession, a public servant and a consummate politician at the same time. He studied MBBS at Higher Medical Institute Plovdiv, Poland and later at Postgraduate Medical Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia.
He started his medical career at Kano State Hospital Management Board where he rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Urologist. Between 2011-2012, he was the Chief of Staff to former Governor of Kano State Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He was also Commissioner of Water Resources in Kano State between 2012-2015.
PROFESSOR MOHAMMED LAMINU MELE, is the Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Maiduguri. Before his appointment, he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration).
Professor Mele is a 1999 B.A. (English Language) graduate of the University of Maiduguri. He joined the services of the University in September, 2004 as Assistant Lecturer. He rose through the ranks to the position of Professor in October, 2016. He was two times Head, Department of English and Literary Studies (2015 to 2019) and Sub-Dean, Faculty of Arts. He was also the Director, Instructional Technology from 1st December 2020 until his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) in February, 2021.
Professor Mele is an unassuming administrator and academic with great capacity for human and capital resources management. He was a Member, Governing Board of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Editor of numerous journals and member of numerous professional bodies including Nigeria Academy of Letters and the Linguistic Association of Nigeria. He has several awards and had served on many Committees and Boards both within and outside the University.

MOHAMMED ABATCHA is an External Member of the University of Maiduguri Governing Council representing Public Interest.
He is a 1987 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. A trained and certified speech writer of University of Ibadan, he started his public service as a Graduate Assistant in the University of Maiduguri in 1988.
He is an astute administrator and one-time Registrar, Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri. After completing his tenure as Registrar, he joined the mainstream civil service as a Director in the Borno State Civil Service and rose through the ranks to the position of Permanent Secretary. He retired from service in August, 2022.
DR. MOBOLAJI OMOBOWALE is an External Member of the University of Maiduguri Governing Council representing Public Interest.
He is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan, a COREN registered Agricultural Engineer and an Associate Professor at the University of Ibadan where he teaches courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas such as Design of Agricultural Structures, Soil and Water Conservation methods, Climate Smart Agriculture, Agricultural Mechanization, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Systems Analysis, Post-harvest Engineering, Greenhouse Engineering and Pollution Control, among others.
He is a member of many professional bodies among which are the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
He is a consultant to a number of agro-allied companies and currently serves as the National President of the Stored Agricultural Commodities Initiative (SACI), a NGO registered in Nigeria with a mission to reduce post-harvest losses, and improve food security and food safety through need-based research and capacity building.
PROFESSOR MOHAMMED KUTA YAHAYA is an External Member of the University of Maiduguri Governing Council representing Public Interest.
He is a graduate of University of Calabar, and presently a Professor of Agricultural Extension with specialisation in Development Communication at the University of Ibadan. He has championed scholarship in Development Communication and Social Engineering focusing on the use of key variables that enhance effective communication among stakeholders to positively affect the critical areas of development in society, including especially an understanding of social change processes using innovative approaches in order to bring about real development in the society.
He was beckoned to serve his home state (Niger State) in various capacities, first as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) between 2007 – 2011 and later as Chief of Staff (2011-2013) and Commissioner in the Ministries of Information and Communication; Agriculture and Rural Development and later with concurrent responsibility for Tertiary Education (2013 to 2015).
He has received numerous awards in the course of his teaching and professional engagements. Professor Kuta is a member of many learned and professional bodies.

AHMAD ALHAJI LAWAN the is Registrar and Secretary to Council and Senate of the University of Maiduguri. He was appointed Registrar in March 2022.
He is a 1989 B.A. Education graduate of the University of Maiduguri. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration as well as Master Degree in International Relations. He joined the services of the University as Administrative Assistant in 1992 and rose through the ranks to his present position of Registrar.
Before his appointment as the Registrar, he was on leave of absence at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he served as Director of Administration. He is a versatile administrator with experience in almost all segments of the University.
He has to his credit many distinguished awards, Fellowships and Memberships from professional bodies including Member, National Institute of Management (MNIM) and Fellow, Institute of Chartered Administrators (FCIA).
