HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, HON JUSTICE SIDI BAGE MUHAMMAD I, CFR, JSC (RTD.), Emir of Lafia Bare-Bari, Nasarawa State, was appointed Chancellor, University of Maiduguri on 6th April 2023.
A 1980 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the Nigerian Law School Lagos 1981, he was appointed a Magistrate on the 10th of August 1982.
and rose through the ranks to became a Chief Magistrate in 1988, Deputy Chief Registrar in 1990 and Substantive Chief Registrar, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in 1991.
He was elevated as Justice of the Court of Appeal in December 2007 and was sworn-in as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, on the 5th of December, 2016.
He was appointed Chairman of the Miscellaneous Offense Tribunal Lagos in 1995, Chairman Election Tribunal for Taraba State in 1999; Chairman Election Tribunal for Kano State March 2003,
Chairman Election Tribunal for Abia State August 2005, Chairman Election Tribunal for Gombe State in 2006 and Chairman Election Tribunal for Oyo State in 2007.
Hon. Justice Bage was selected the 17th Emir of Lafian Bare-Bari on the 26th of March 2019, presented with a 1st Class Staff of Office on the 3rd of May 2019. and appointed Chairman Nasarawa State Council of Emirs. He was one time the Chancellor of the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State and Chancellor, River State University of Science and Technology Port-Harcourt. He is a Member, National Judicial Council (NJC). His hobbies are reading in general, horse riding, playing golf and squash racket.
