Aim and Scope of the Journal

Research Journal of Science is a quarterly open-access peer-reviewed scientific Journal dedicated to various disciplines of basic and applied sciences. Original work, whether theoretical or experimental from the following fields is published by RJS as original research, review articles, mini-reviews, and short communications in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Geology, Physics, Agriculture, Medicine and Engineering.

JOURNAL INFORMATION

Name

All articles published by RJS are publicly accessible. The entire text of the articles in the Journal may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, or linked to by users without prior permission from the publisher or the author, provided that the original authors are properly acknowledged. Also, the Journal will conduct a double-blind peer review of all manuscripts submitted to it. All manuscripts are first assessed by the Editorial Team. Manuscripts are rejected at this stage if they lack sufficient originality, contain significant scientific faults, poor grammar, or poor English, or are outside the scope of the Journal, or written without following the Journal’s guidelines. Those that meet the minimum criteria are forwarded to at least 2 experts for peer-review.

Also, the Journal will conduct a double-blind peer review of all manuscripts submitted to it. All manuscripts are first assessed by the Editorial Team. Manuscripts are rejected at this stage if they lack sufficient originality, contain significant scientific faults, poor grammar, or poor English, or are outside the scope of the Journal, or written without following the Journal’s guidelines. Those that meet the minimum criteria are forwarded to at least 2 experts for peer-review.

When writing manuscripts, authors should make sure their contents are original. If the authors used someone else's words or work, they must properly cite them. Turnitin will be used to check all articles submitted to RJS for plagiarism. Similarity Index of 25% is accepted by the journal. In the event that SI is above 30% during the review or editing process, the manuscript will be rejected. If plagiarism is discovered after a manuscript has been published, the Journal will retract the article and make the proper statement. When errors are found in articles that have been published, the Journal will decide what should be done and may speak with the editor(s), author(s), and the authors' institution (s). Errors by the authors may be corrected by a corrigendum and errors by the publisher by an erratum.


PUBLICATION ETHICS

The editors of the RJS are responsible to make the editorial decision on submitted articles. The Journal relies on the integrity and honesty of the editors and reviewers to accept high-quality manuscripts that conform to ethical standards and meets all the Journal requirements. The Editorial decisions will be made only on intellectual merit without any prejudice or bias. The editors will maintain the confidentiality of the submitted manuscripts and ensure the integrity of double-blind peer-review. Authors of the original research article must present accurate data and provide sufficient information and references to ensure the reproducibility of the work. Fraudulent or inaccurate statements are considered unethical behavior and are therefore unacceptable. Authors may be asked to provide the raw/supplementary data for a paper that is under editorial review. The authors should be prepared to provide for public access to these data (if practicable) and to retain such data for a reasonable time after the publication.


Scientific Misconduct and Unethical Practices

The Research Journal of Science is not responsible for scientific misconducts and unethical acts which include, but are not limited to, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification and duplicate publication.


Copyright Ownership

The Research Journal of Science retained the copyright of any manuscript published by the journal.


Endorsement

The publication of any commercial product does not mean endorsement by the RJS.

GUIDELINE FOR AUTHORS

All manuscripts should be written concisely and clearly in English language.

Article Types

The Journal will consider the following article types.

Research Articles

Research articles are those articles that report the findings of an original research investigation. These articles ought to outline the methodology used in the research effort and offer a comprehensive analysis of the findings. The following should be included in the research articles in the order shown below:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results including Tables and/or Figures
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgments
  • References
  • Appendixes (if necessary)
  • Abbreviations used (if necessary)
Systematic reviews may be submitted as research articles


Reviews Articles

A review article provides an overview of the published literature in a particular subject area. A review article should contain an abstract, keywords, introduction, methods (including data sources, study selection, and data extraction), results and conclusion, acknowledgment, and references.


Short Communication

Short Communications are brief reports that present original and significant research and need to be published quickly. It may focus on a hot topic or may have new findings that are expected to have a significant impact on a current problem. Short communications are expected to have a higher-than-average impact.


Case Reports

New, interesting, and rare cases can be reported. They should be unique, describing a great diagnostic or therapeutic challenge and providing a learning point for the readers.


Letter to the editor

It should be brief and decisive observations. They should preferably be related to articles previously published in the Journal or views expressed in the Journal. They should not be preliminary observations that need a later paper for validation.

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT

Title

Title of manuscripts should be informative, concise and capture all key words for easy searching.

Author(s) and address(es)

The names and email addresses of all the authors/co-authors listed on the manuscript MUST be recorded on the journal submission portal. Manuscript submitted without the names of the authors on the manuscript will be declined at desk submission.

Abstract

The Abstract should contain 250-300 words and should clearly state the background of the work, methodology, major findings and conclusion. Avoid the use of acronyms and references.

Keywords

The abstract should be followed by a maximum of six keywords. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes. Avoid abbreviations as keywords.

Introduction

It should provide adequate background for the study, justification, objectives and relevant references.

Materials and Methods

It should include detailed description of materials and methods, experimental design, operations, samples, observations, and statistical analysis of data.

Results

Presentation of the results obtained using self-explanatory tables or figures, diagrams, graphs or photos. Levels of significance and standard errors for comparison of treatment means should be given.

Discussion

Adequately offer scientific explanations for the results obtained, taking into account the idea and objectives of the study. Findings of the study should compare with the results of previously published works.

Acknoledgements

Limit acknowledgments to key contributors.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must identify and declare any personal circumstances or interest that may be perceived as influencing the representation or interpretation of reported research results. If there is no conflict of interest, please state "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

Author Contributions

Each author is expected to have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the creation of new software used in the work; or have drafted the work or substantively revised it; AND has approved the submitted version. Authorship must include and be limited to those who have contributed substantially to the work.

References

All references should be cited in the text by the last name(s) of the author(s) and year of publication, for example, (Umar, 2008) or (Umar and Abdulrahman, 2008). If the citation is the subject of the sentence, then only the date should be given in parentheses, for example, according to Gopal (2007) or as suggested by Ibrahim and Fatima (2000). For citation of references with three or more authors, only the first author`s name followed by et al., should be used, for example, (Kokori et al.,1988) or as shown by Marte et al., (1997). If there is more than one reference in the same year for the same author(s), then please add the letters `a`, `b`, etc. to the year, for example, (Donli, 2000a, 2000b). Only published papers or papers in press can be mentioned in the manuscript. Papers in preparation or in review can be mentioned within the text as unpublished data but should not be included in the References section. References should be listed alphabetically at the end of the text without numbering. References to Journal articles, books, proceedings, chapters in books, etc. should be listed as given below:
