Established in 1980, our faculty stands as a premier institution for veterinary education, research, and clinical services in Northeast Nigeria and beyond. We are fully committed to training competent, ethical, and highly skilled veterinary professionals capable of meeting contemporary global challenges in animal health, wildlife conservation, and public safety. Our academic tracks enjoy full accreditation by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Advancing Scholarship: Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs

Alongside our hallmark undergraduate Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) curriculum, we offer expanding Postgraduate programs managed in collaboration with the College of Postgraduate Studies University of Maiduguri. We offer Master of Science (MSc), Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees across our specialized Departments. These advanced programs develop the next generation of academic leaders, molecular scientists, virologists, global epidemiologists, and expert consultants capable of spearheading “One Health” initiatives.

A hub for Scientific Excellence and Research

The Sahel Journal of Veterinary Sciences: The Faculty is the proud publisher of the Sahel Journal of Veterinary Sciences (SJVS). Authors and reviewers can access the official SJVS Submission Portal (www.saheljvs.org) to submit original research, clinical case reports, short communications, and review articles spanning all veterinary and related fields.

Faculty Seminar Series: Intellectual discourse remains central to our mission. Our recurring Faculty Seminar Series brings together internal researchers and global guests experts to showcase advancements in veterinary medicine.
